Foobar2000 is one of the most powerful pieces of software available for playing music. It’s highly modular design allows for nearly infinite levels of customization, including new features via user-made components, skins, themes, metadata tags, and custom programming scripts. Being a big music nerd, my personal foobar setup is something I’ve poured countless hours into over the years. I’m always coming up with new interface designs, scripts, and organizational systems to improve it.
“Midnight” Theme
The current iteration of my constantly-in-development foobar configuration theme Midnight. Some features are still in development. See below for more images showcasing past iterations and designs.
Prototypes, Mock-ups, and Concept Art
The Midnight theme has gone through many changes over the years. These are some of the more interesting directions the project has gone in.
Query Search GUI
A simple companion application created with Microsoft Visual Studio. Designed to make it much easier to create complex search patterns without the need for tedious amounts of formatting. Query is one of foobar’s two native syntax formats, used for search-related functions. The other script is Title Formatting, used for display functions and other technical tasks.
Hotness Algorithm
I developed an algorithm that would score tracks in my library based on a number of factors, allowing me to see at-a-glance which tracks were most “hot”. Exclusive to NGplaylist.
